We’re proud to welcome Gizzi Erskine back to Mare Street Market, stepping into the role of Chef Creative Director across both Hackney and King’s Cross. A defining voice in London’s food scene, Gizzi has spent the last two decades shaping how the city eats — as a chef, award-winning author, columnist and cultural connector.

This autumn, Gizzi returns to where it all began, bringing a bold new dining identity to Mare Street Market. Her vision will see the launch of produce-led French-Americana brasseries at both markets, a reimagined deli centred around deep-filled focaccia and vibrant salads, and the introduction of an entirely new health-focused concept in the months ahead. Expect guest pop-ups and creative residencies along the way, reinforcing Mare Street Market as a home for collaboration and culture.

Founder Marc Francis-Baum shares:

Mare Street Market continues to grow as an emporium of talent. Alongside Gizzi’s return, we’re proud to be the home of Island from Brad Carter and Tom Brown, as well as an upcoming, first-of-its-kind pop-up shop and music hub from Sony RCA Records.

On coming home, Gizzi says:

Mare Street Market is my home. It has my DNA in the walls. Marc and I have always shared a vision, and I’m excited to help re-establish MSM Hackney and King’s Cross as some of London’s most important food and cultural spaces.
